A Cancer Awareness Programme & Walkathon

Al-Ameen Institute of Management Studies & Al-Ameen Arts, Science & Commerce College organized “A Cancer Awareness Programme & Walkathon” in association with SRV Agadi Hospital, Bangalore on Tuesday, 3rd Feb 2026 at 10.00 a.m., at the Seminar Hall, Al-Ameen Educational Campus.

The theme for the awareness programme was “United By Unique”, uniting students, educationists, healthcare professionals, and the community to raise awareness, promote early detection, and stand together against cancer.

The formal event commenced with recitation of Qirath by Syed Nouman Ahmed, MBA student followed by a welcome address by Dr. B. A. Anuradha, Principal, Al-Ameen Institute of Management Studies. She appreciated the initiative taken by Agadi Hospital, for being socially responsible and for promoting such a crucial cause.

The Guests of Honour for the event were Dr. Anju A Agadi, Dr. Niti Raizada, Director, Medical Oncology & Haemato-Oncology; Dr. S. Krishnamurthy, Senior Onco Surgeon; Dr. Sonali Shinde, Medical Oncologist; Ms. Aishwaryia Ashwin, Unit Head, Agadi Hospital; Dr. S Krishnamurthy, Senior Oncologist; Dr. Nitin, Dr. Madhusudhan. & Dr.Tulika Kunda, Medical Administrator, Agadi Hospital.

Dr. Niti Raizada, Director, Medical Oncology spoke about Cancer awareness, early signs of cancer, early detection, cancer prevention, health awareness, regular screening, symptoms to watch, lifestyle choices & timely diagnosis. She said that health should be a priority for everyone since time is the key factor for treatment and spoke on the importance of secondary prevention awareness.

The event was presided by Mr. Umar Ismail Khan, Chairman, Al-Ameen Educational Society who was concerned about focusing on personalized people-centric care to reduce the burden on both the healthcare system & caregivers. He advocated that advice be given for equitable, comprehensive care for all, especially the poor; so that the poor get affordable treatment. He urged everyone to rise-to-the occasion and to combine efforts with compassion and make a ripple effect that can truly make the world a better place.

Dr.Tulika Kunda, Medical Administrator, Agadi Hospital gave a detailed briefing of the events.

In a powerful display of solidarity and public health advocacy, a Walkathon was also organized starting from Al-Ameen Educational Society campus on Hosur Road, winding through the city to SRV Agadi Hospital campus at Wilson Garden. The rally featured 400 participants, who wore symbolic masks and carried placards to highlight that informed conversations and community support are the strongest weapons against the disease.

The Walkathon was officially flagged off by Mr. Umar Ismail Khan, Chairman, Al-Ameen Educational Society.
