International Women’s Day

“International Women’s Day” was celebrated as a global day celebrating not just the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women but also the most important role of women as a mother, a daughter and a wife.

Today’s celebrations commenced with the recitation of Qirath by by P. Tahir Khan, BBA Student. Dr. B. A. Anuradha, Principal in her address welcomed the distinguished, erudite, powerful women who have a strong influence on the society and who were the Guests of Honour and Awardees of “Al-Ameen Women Achievers’ Award” today. She said that it’s most appropriate to say that “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” and she quoted what Mr.R. K. Laxman’s, cartoonist said when asked why do you always create a common man? Why not a common woman? He smiled and said, “You see woman can never be common, because they are always special!”

The first recipient of “Al-Ameen Women Achievers’ Award 2025” was Ms. Sara Fathima, IPS who is the DCP of South East Division, Bengaluru and holds quite a few accolades & accomplishments to her credit having served as SP, CID Bangalore and being honored with the Hon’ble Chief Ministers Medal in 2014. In her speech, she said that nothing is more powerful that determined & focused woman, because there is no limit to the dreams you can accomplish. Handholding others and making others achieve what their dream is empowerment. Take every opportunity as a challenge, work hard and achieve what others think is unachievable.

The second recipient of “Al-Ameen Women Achievers’ Award 2025” was Ms.Nahida Zamzam, KAS and Registrar, Tumkur University. She said that it is very difficult for women to live in a man’s world, where crime rate & sexual harassment cases are ever increasing. It is manifested that a woman is multitasking, and can juggle between work, relationships, kids & everything. We all need to bring about change right from our homes to do away with such myths and to create gender equality.

The third recipient of “Al-Ameen Women Achievers’ Award 2025” was Ms.Shabeena Sultana, Hon. Consul of the Republic of Tunisia. She said that today’s recipients represented powerful & strong womanhood and she was grateful to be a part of this women’s day programme at Al-Ameen. She opined that we need to celebrate women everyday and create a more inclusive society. Islam recognizes the equality between men & women, as stated in the Quran, mentioning similar rights & responsibilities and they have been given equal rights to education & to pursue knowledge. She stressed on the need for co-existence, growing together, handhold & encourage others to dream big and for this we need to create awareness she said. She wished a Happy Women’s Day to all the beautiful ladies present on the occasion

The fourth recipient of “Al-Ameen Women Achievers’ Award 2025” was Dr. Asima Banu, Dean & Director of Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute. She was delighted to be part of the programme and highlighted the power & strength of women by narrating the example of the 250 pregnancies during covid at the state-run Victoria and Vani Vilas Hospital in Bengaluru, where these women faced the most challenging time of their life all alone because of the quarantine rules and also having delivered covid negative babies – moral “Women are Strong and are not bound by anything”. She said that women are born strong because of the xx chromosomes created by Allah. She wanted the women & men to exchange roles and have positive affirmations. Women need to motivate themselves by becoming aware of the oppressions, change their attitude to bring a shift in their status and last but not the least a woman needs to empower other woman to create strong powerful force. She wished everyone a healthy & happy women’s day.

Mr. Zubair Anwar, Hon. Secretary, Al-Ameen Educational Society while addressing the gathering acknowledged that women work harder than men and the fact that women lead and men follow and women are more supportive & collaborative, advocating a more equitable distribution of power and responsibility between genders. He narrated his experiences with his mother, sisters & nieces and said that woman are God’s Gift to us and sincerely expressed his respect & admiration for all the women, acknowledging their achievements and contributions.

Mr. Umar Ismail Khan, Chairman, Al-Ameen Educational Society asked women to set and achieve their goals just like the inspirational women invited today for the celebrations and start building the foundation of dreams and ambitions today. He said that today they have set an example for everyone to follow by analyzing & articulating the present situation in the society. He said that the power of women is highlighted in adverse situations. He advised everyone, especially women to always have faith in God; pray regularly, be obedient & serve your parents, have patience & have good character traits; be positive and not get disheartened by the negativity in the media, he said that the world is run by God & God’s Rules Prevail; be humble & don’t be arrogant; always be grateful for everything and take care of yourself & your family first.
